Joe Sanders has the most beautiful garden in our town. Nearly everybody enters for 'The Nicest Garden Competition' each year, but Joe wins every time. Bill Frith's garden is larger than Joe's. Bill works harder than Joe and grows more flowers and vegetables, but Joe's garden is more interesting. He has made neat paths and has built a wooden bridge over a pool. I like gardens too, but I do not like hard work. Every year I enter for the garden competition too, and I always win a little prize for the worst garden in the town!

🔍 特殊难点
1. 比较级 + than 的省略
当比较对象从上下文可以判断时，than 部分可以省略：
Bill works harder (than Joe).
I need a bigger house.（言下之意：比现在的更大）
2. than me vs than I am
He is taller than me.（口语、日常）
He is taller than I am.（书面语、更正式）
两种都对，口语中 than me 更常见。
3. a little + 比较级 = "稍微……"
课文最后一句："I always win a little prize for the worst garden."
比较级也可以和 a little / much / a lot / far 配合：
It's a little colder today. （稍微冷一点）
This is much better.（好多了）
She is far more intelligent than him.（她比他聪明得多）
There are a lot more people here.（人多得多）
4. 最高级前的 the
形容词最高级前 通常要加 the：the most beautiful garden
副词最高级的 the 可以省略：Who works (the) hardest?
做表语且不与其他人比较时可以不加 the：It's best to leave now.
5. than 前后比较对象要一致
✅ Bill's garden is larger than Joe's.（花园和花园比）
❌ Bill's garden is larger than Joe.（花园和人比，逻辑错误）
